August 2018

08-17-18 We are home! We arrived home on Monday afternoon to a very warm house. All Weather, who cared for our lawn, has done a tremendous job on the lawn and bushes. They look great! They trimmed the rhododendrons and they look better than when I tried to take care of the trimming. Thank you All Weather, owned by George Krar!

On our last day in New York, we were able to connect with my wonderful friend, Sally Carmer and her husband Jamie. Sally and I go back to the late 1980s. Although we don't speak very often, we remain close. It was great to see her! She hasn't changed at all!

We had a great trip. We logged 8,661 miles, and used 783 gallons of gas. Fortunately, there were no serious problems during the trip. Our RV battery stopped charging while connected to shore lines so we had to keep recharging it. The trailer goes to Longview RV for repairs next week.

We leave for Bowling Green, Florida, in mid-November. Dad and my brother, Kenny, bought a trailer at a Pioneer Creek RV Resort and Dad is going to spend the winter there. Bob and I were lucky to get reservations for December through April at Pioneer.

08-08-18 We are heading for home. For the past week, we have been traveling for a day, camping for two nights, and traveling again for a day. We have some work that needs to be done on the camper. We left Suffield still needing a gray water valve. Longview ordered the part but it didn't come in before we left for Colorado in the Spring, so we need to have that installed. While on the road, the camper battery stopped charging on the shoreline. It charges while towing, but it quickly runs down once we stop. So, the charger needs to be replaced now.

It has been nice this summer, traffic out west is much different than East of the Mississippi. Getting on the highways are easy, there are rarely any cars coming, and if ther are, they are able to easily move over to let you into the slow lane. Things changed a little West of Chicago. The lanes are full of traffic and people aren't very willing to let you onto the highway.

We have stayed in some very nice campgrounds. It seems like each one has something we really like. The one here in Madison has a good-sized pen on our site for the dogs! This campground, Thompson Grand River Valley KOA, has to be one of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed in.

We will be in Fulton, NY, on Friday. Fulton is a little Northeast of Syracuse. I have a good friend, Sally, who we will be visiting with.

Our map is filling up. We added Ohio this morning, along with Lakes Michigan and Erie. That will be all for this trip. Our next big trip, probably next summer, we will get those states on the edges.
